Key Points

  • Collaboration born from 2023 Festa Major encounter; choreography for 'Actitud' by Jaume Torra.
  • Buhos, formed 2005 in Calafell, known for hits like 'Volcans' and festival headlining.
  • Dancers at 8 key tour stops including Canet Rock and Palau de la Música.
  • Blends Andorran stick dancing traditions with modern music to promote cultural identity.

The Bastoners Lauredians, an independent dance section of Sant Julià de Lòria's Esbart Laurèdia folk group established in 2014, will perform alongside Catalan pop-rock band Buhos at select stops on their 20th anniversary tour this summer.

The collaboration stems from an encounter last July at Sant Julià de Lòria's Festa Major, where the troupe joined Buhos onstage during Monday night's performance, following local tradition. Buhos vocalist Guillem Solé then commissioned them to develop choreography for the track "Actitud," created by Jaume Torra, who has served as Esbart Laurèdia's artistic director for 18 years. This partnership has evolved into a highlight of the tour, framed as a tribute to popular culture.

Formed in Calafell in 2005, Buhos have built a strong following in the Catalan music scene through high-energy shows and hits including "Volcans," "Barcelona s'il·lumina," and "Mil batalles." They frequently headline major festivals and town celebrations.

The tour features 22 concerts in total, with the Andorran dancers appearing at prominent venues to maximize artistic and institutional exposure. At other dates, local groups may perform the "Actitud" choreography, provided they credit the Bastoners Lauredians.

Confirmed dates with potential involvement include: - 14 March: Poble Espanyol, Barcelona (tour opener) - 3 May: Festival Strenes, Girona - 12 June: Festival CabrÓ Rock, Vic - 19 June: Festa de la Parròquia, Encamp - 4 July: Canet Rock, Canet - 20 August: Festa Major de Manresa - 19 September: Festa Major de Santa Tecla, Tarragona - 14 November: Palau de la Música, Barcelona (tour closer)

The troupe's approach blends traditional stick dancing with contemporary music, creating original routines that promote Andorra's evolving cultural identity while staying true to its roots.
