The Canòlich Music festival, inspired by its success in Andorra, will extend to Barcelona's Sagrada Família basilica on 19 November for around 1,500 secondary school students from Andorra and Catalonia.
The event, branded Canòlich Music ‘Edificant música’, targets pupils in the first two years of compulsory secondary education (ESO). Organised by the Diocese of Urgell, Fundació Escola Cristiana de Catalunya (FECC), and Secretariat Interdiocesà d’Ensenyament de la Religió (SIERC), it blends contemporary music, education, and spirituality. It coincides with the centenary of Antoni Gaudí's death and the feast of Saint Cecilia, music's patron saint.
Building on Andorra's 13th edition last year, the initiative aims to involve students from Catalonia-based dioceses in Gaudí commemorations, highlighting the symbolic Torre de Jesucrist at the basilica. The day features a pedagogical and spiritual itinerary: starting with recognition of received love, exploring its transformative force, encouraging openness to others, guiding participants to purpose in Jesus, and ending with the Lord's Prayer.
The slogan ‘#Edificant música’ ties construction and music in youth-oriented language, while promoting church synodality, evangelical values via popular contemporary tracks, and collaboration with the Sagrada Família's construction board. It aligns with the festival's ongoing pastoral project and offers a curricular activity linking educational identity to modern music.
The artist lineup—featuring names popular with young audiences in Andorra and Catalonia—along with registration details and the full schedule, will be released soon.
