Disney+ Launches Percy Jackson Season 2 with Sea of Monsters Adventure

Disney+ has launched the second season of *Percy Jackson and the Olympians*, drawing fans back into the epic world of Rick Riordan's bestselling books with heightened action and fresh twists.

The new episodes follow Percy Jackson, played by Walker Scobell, as he teams up with Annabeth, Clarisse, and his newly discovered half-brother Tyson. Their mission takes them into the Sea of Monsters to rescue Grover, Percy's best friend, and secure the Golden Fleece—the only item capable of thwarting Luke, Kronos, and their plot to destroy Olympus.

Scobell told EFE the season ramps up the intensity: "There is definitely a lot more action than before." He showcased improved combat skills but admitted feeling "nervous" about viewer reactions, given the challenges of book-to-screen adaptations. "It's difficult because, obviously, there are changes," he said.

Riordan echoed this, noting the production team is "constantly learning how to translate the book into a television series." Even book readers will encounter surprises, including flashback scenes from characters like Luke, Annabeth, and Thalia in action. While praising the faithful adaptation, Riordan acknowledged necessary adjustments: "When you take a story and translate it from one format to another, obviously some things have to change."

Two decades after the books' debut, Riordan refreshed the narrative for modern audiences, emphasizing timeless human dilemmas rooted in Greek mythology. These include confronting abusive leaders or families, and navigating choices around love, war, and revenge—themes he described as "very hot right now" despite their ancient origins.

New episodes drop weekly on Disney+ through January 21, 2026, with production already underway on season three.
