Encamp will allocate about €110,000 to this year’s Carnival events, which will run in the main parish from 14 to 18 February and in the Pas de la Casa the following weekend, 21–22 February.
The bulk of the budget—€58,000—is earmarked for activities in Encamp, with €18,000 for events in the Pas de la Casa. A further €14,000 has been set aside for decoration and €15,000 for sound and lighting, in particular for the night operation of the Carnestoltes on Tuesday 17 February. These amounts do not cover traditional performances such as the ball de l’Ossa (bear dance), the trial of the smugglers or the operació del Rei, which are organised directly by the Festival Committee.
The parish council has commissioned the programmes and the necessary technical services for the days of celebration. In Encamp, the programme (14–18 February) will include children’s parties, concerts by cover bands, DJ sessions, dances for the padrins, street musical animations that will accompany the ball de l’Ossa, and a communal sardine meal on Ash Wednesday.
At the Pas de la Casa (21–22 February) planned activities include a batucada following the hanging of the Carnestoltes, children’s shows, a Saturday evening dinner with live music, a Sunday batucada through the streets, children’s games, a fire spectacle to close the festivities and a communal sardine meal.
The council stresses that the programme combines organised municipal events with the longstanding traditional acts run by the Festival Committee, and that technical and logistical contracts have already been awarded to support the celebrations.
