Encamp's Culture Councillor Launches Children's Heritage Education Project

amp's culture councillor, Joan Sans, is overseeing the development of educational materials to introduce children to the parish's tangible and intangible heritage and traditions.

The project, budgeted for 2026, aims primarily to serve local schoolchildren, though officials have not ruled out making it available to visitors from outside the parish. Work on its design has already begun, with Sans expressing confidence it will launch next year.

"We don't have anything like this, and I was really keen to make it happen," Sans said. He first proposed the idea at the start of his term and received backing from his team. The materials will cover Encamp's cultural assets, from physical landmarks to customs and practices.

Details remain fluid, particularly on distribution. Sans noted that decisions are pending on whether the resources will be limited to school support or extended as supplementary tools for families and children visiting the area. "We'll see the direction of the work underway—whether it fits schools or could also serve as complementary material once we finalise its shape," he explained.

While funding is secured in the 2026 budget, Sans acknowledged some aspects are not yet resolved. "There are still some loose ends," he added, stressing that the project's final form is being shaped as development progresses.
