La Seu d’Urgell will host the 17th Fira del Món Geganter on April 17, 18 and 19, 2026, after organizers selected the town in a close vote last September.

The Agrupació de Colles Geganteres de Catalunya made the decision on Saturday, September 6, following a review of two competing bids by its board. More than 60 gegant groups from Catalunya, Aragó, the Balearic Islands, Múrcia and Catalunya Nord will take part over the three days. The programme will feature activities, concerts, performances and street parades led by the towering puppet figures, along with their capgrossos and other traditional folk characters.

To help run the event smoothly, organizers have issued a call for local volunteers. They will assist by directing groups through the streets, accompanying parades and handling logistics. People can sign up through an online form, selecting to help for the full weekend or individual days that fit their availability.

The annual fair rotates venues to promote the gegant tradition across regions. La Seu d’Urgell, located in the Cerdanya valley close to Andorra, provides suitable wide streets and a strong festival background for the gatherings.
