A professional makeup artist, Andrea Ruiz, won first prize in the adult costume category at the Pas de la Casa costume contest yesterday with an entry made entirely from bodypainting.
The creation, crafted solely with body paint, astonished onlookers, many of whom only realised at the end that it was all makeup. Ruiz, who represented Andorra at the 2025 Spanish Bodypainting Championship where she took the title, described bodypainting as her greatest passion despite its limited recognition in the country.
She entered the contest with her friend Sandra González, who served as the model, aiming to showcase the discipline through a fresh and innovative approach. The project demanded four days of intensive work.
Ruiz highlighted the crowd's reactions as the most rewarding part of the experience, particularly the moments when people uncovered the all-paint secret. Her goal is to boost visibility for bodypainting in Andorra and bring it closer to local audiences.
She shares her work on Instagram at @makeupbyandreaofficial.
