A group of diners enjoyed a memorable meal at the Xalet Bringué restaurant in El Serrat, praising its focus on Andorran mountain cuisine amid stunning views of the Ordino valley.
Located at Hotel & Spa Xalet Bringué on Avinguda de Sant Pere 16, the modern, light-filled space features white tones and a terrace overlooking the snow-covered landscape. On a clear day, visitors arrived after aperitifs at the Hortell café in Arcalís. They opted for an indoor table near a panoramic window to avoid the sharp drop in temperature as the sun dipped behind the peaks.
The generous sharing portions began with appetizers of fuet, cheese, and olives, followed by three starters: mi-cuit foie gras with armagnac for a firm texture and distinctive liquor note; smoked trout infused with local Serrat aromas and truffle butter, described as exceptionally tender and melt-in-the-mouth; and small morels with foie in a rich sauce ideal for dipping bread. Mains included a creamy duck and foie rice—soft, with shredded duck, mushrooms, and slow-simmered broth, enough for five despite being portioned for two—and a one-kilogram tomahawk steak, perfectly sliced, grilled to perfection, and served with fried potatoes on a wooden board. Dessert was honey with fresh mató cheese, rounded off with coffees and an infusion.
The group paired the meal with Marqués de Murrieta from Rioja Alta's Ygay estate, aged 18 months in American oak for balance with meats, mushrooms, rice, and cheeses. Average price without wine: €40-50. Open daily from 13:00-15:00 and 20:00-22:00; phone +376 736 999; parking available. Recommended dish: smoked trout with Serrat aromas.
Elsewhere, traditional events mark the season. Next Sunday in Encamp's Plaça Sant Miquel, the Sant Antoni escudella and flea market returns at 13:00, with stew distribution afterward (gluten-free options; €8 commemorative plate or €2 portion). A culturally recognised event, it includes a charity auction for Càritas.
Calçots season has begun with the cold weather, appearing on restaurant menus and supermarket shelves as a shared winter tradition.
At Casa Rull in Sispony, Massana, the Canya als Museus cycle hosted a cultural session blending Chinese tea ceremony, traditional painting, and calligraphy, coordinated by Lovedrinktea with Dolors Vila.
