Ordino donates €538.84 from 33rd Mostra Gastronòmica to UNICEF

The Comú d’Ordino has presented a solidarity cheque for €538.84 to UNICEF Andorra, raised during the 33rd Mostra Gastronòmica d’Ordino. The contribution comes from 1% of ticket sales for the event, proceeds from the Saló Gourmet, and the total takings from the Gastrolab.

The cheque was handed over by Maria del Mar Coma, cònsol major of Ordino, and received by Damaris Castellanos, executive director of UNICEF Andorra. Toni Corominas, representing Menja’t, a co-organiser of the event, was also present.

Coma said the Comú wished to share the success of the Mostra with an organisation of solid standing, describing the donation as a symbolic way to give back to the community. She framed the gift as part of support for initiatives related to food and wellbeing and emphasised the continued importance of NGOs in addressing unmet needs even in advanced societies.

UNICEF Andorra thanked the Comú and participants in the Mostra. The funds will be allocated to emergency food projects through UNICEF’s flexible funding mechanism, which allows resources to be directed quickly to where needs are most urgent around the world.

The 33rd Mostra Gastronòmica d’Ordino took place on the 8th and 9th, with wine as the central theme, aiming to promote the region’s viticultural culture and its connection to local gastronomy.
