Sant Julià de Lòria's Centre Cultural to Undergo €14M Modernisation

Sant Julià de Lòria's Centre Cultural is set for a comprehensive €14 million refurbishment, with insurers footing more than half the bill at around €7 million.

Cerni Cairat, the parish's leading consul, said the scope grew after structural issues surfaced in the dressing rooms. The 2026 budget allocates roughly €1 million to the effort. Speaking to media outlets, he stressed that the project goes beyond fixes to deliver a thorough update. "It won't be the same building when we're done—we've seized the chance to modernise it and ensure it stands for another 30, 40 or 50 years," Cairat stated.

The upgrades will make the venue suitable for diverse programming, from conferences and concerts to theatre, establishing it as a major cultural draw in the Principat. Officials target completion by late spring 2026. In an interview with the Andorran News Agency, Cairat specified a likely reinauguration "towards the end of April or beginning of May, when we should be able to reopen it for good."

Interest in the space is building early, with bookings for shows already arriving, Cairat said. The council is organising an extended "reopening cycle" spanning weeks or months to highlight the centre's range through exhibitions and performances across artistic fields.

Key additions include a new outdoor performance area alongside the two existing auditoriums, which Cairat described as a highlight reserved for the launch event.
