Sant Julià de Lòria kicked off the 17th edition of its Ruta de la Tapa on May 6, a five-day gastronomic event through May 10 featuring 15 restaurants and bars.
Tourism councillor Judith López attended the launch, emphasising the route's economic and promotional benefits for participants. She noted that it draws in passersby who might otherwise skip certain spots, allowing them to explore new venues. López described the event as firmly established, with establishments eagerly awaiting it and already brainstorming entries for next year. "It brings a lot of life to the parish, and we will keep repeating it," she added.
Participating venues offer tapas for €4, including a drink. Attendees receive a passport to record visits, complete the full route, and submit digital votes for awards. Organisers have increased consolation prizes to 150 lots for those who finish and vote.
New for this edition is a prize for the healthiest tapa, backed by stem cell bank Cellab ahead of the Andorra Microbioma, Immunoteràpia i Càncer (AMIC) conference immediately after the event. The award highlights dishes using healthy ingredients and preparation methods, bridging food, wellness, and scientific research.
Seven main prizes are available, led by Heineken's €500 and €400 awards, plus €300 honours from Unida Qualitat i Prevenció, Cellab, Construccions Pujal i Santamaria, and Cosan. The best sweet tapa category returns, pitting its two entries against each other. A panel of experts, including chefs Christian Sansa and Sergi Ballés plus former winner and ex-Fusió manager Jordi Roig, will select winners.
Street entertainment and cultural activities enhance the experience, supporting local hospitality and boosting parish vitality.
