The documentary Ucraïna. Resistència i Esperança was screened last night at the Guiu cinemas in La Seu d’Urgell, with Sister Lucía Caram in attendance. The screening was organised by the Department of Solidarity and Cooperation of the La Seu d’Urgell city council.
Before the projection, Sister Lucía appeared in the municipal plenary hall, signed the city’s book of honour and held a brief private meeting with Mayor Joan Barrera at the town hall.
The film follows Sister Lucía’s humanitarian trips from the Convent of Santa Clara in Manresa to the heart of the war in Ukraine, presenting a visceral, human account of life away from the media spotlight. It documents daily life under conflict: a people who persist, children sleeping in underground shelters each night, the suffering of refugee families and the quiet courage of those who resist without weapons.
The documentary features the participation of Spain’s defence minister, Margarita Robles, and includes testimony from Ukrainian soldiers, refugees and former prisoners of war.
