Andorra Snow Levels Drop to 1,100m Tonight Amid Sharp Cold Shift

**Andorra faces sharp weather shift with snow levels dropping to 1,100 metres tonight**

Temperatures across the Principality have already begun to fall noticeably today after several days of mild conditions, with forecasts indicating a more pronounced deterioration overnight and into tomorrow.

An incoming weather front will bring widespread precipitation, initially affecting higher elevations before the snow level drops progressively. Starting above 2,000 metres during the afternoon, the snow line will descend abruptly by evening to around 1,100 metres, restoring a wintry feel to the region.

The Meteorological Service of Andorra predicts the change will intensify on Sunday, with rain covering the entire country in the morning and turning heavier in the afternoon. Snowfall at mid and high altitudes will become widespread overnight, accompanied by a significant temperature plunge of up to 10 degrees Celsius compared to recent days.

Sunday's maximum temperatures will reach no higher than 14°C in Andorra la Vella, 10°C at 1,500 metres and 2°C at the Pas de la Casa. Conditions will worsen further on Monday, with daytime highs limited to 11°C in the capital, 7°C at 1,500 metres and even lower elsewhere. Overnight lows on Monday could hit -9°C at the Pas, 1°C at 1,500 metres and 2°C in Andorra la Vella.

In response, the Meteorological Service has issued a yellow avalanche risk alert nationwide, effective from 6pm today and remaining in place at least until Monday afternoon.

Precipitation is expected to ease after Monday, with high pressure bringing stability from Tuesday onward.
