Construction of Andorra's new wildlife recovery centre in Canillo is progressing according to plan, with contractors expecting to complete the facility before the end of 2026.
Work at the site near Racons now centres on walls, roofing, interior finishes and spaces to house animals. Environment, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Guillem Casal gave this assessment after recent site visits, confirming the project remains on track.
Once finished, the government will relocate operations from the current Santa Coloma centre, transferring equipment, materials and any animals under treatment. The existing facility runs below capacity, handling a small number of animals that rises seasonally with injuries. It often serves as an initial stop, sending complex cases to specialist centres like Vallcalent in Lleida.
Casal stated that all deadlines are being respected, paving the way for the move as originally scheduled. The new infrastructure will boost Andorra's wildlife rehabilitation capabilities.
