FEDA and the Andorran Federation for Hunting and Fishing (FACiP) have renewed their collaboration agreement for the next three years to boost trout populations in the Principat's rivers and lakes.
The pact, signed by FACiP president Josep Maria Cabanes and FEDA director general Sílvia Calvó at FEDA's offices, builds on five years of prior work. It targets native species like the brown trout—known locally as truita fario—while promoting awareness of fishing regulations and supporting growth in local wildlife.
Cabanes emphasized the pact's importance, pointing to FEDA's oversight of high-altitude lakes, including Engolasters. He noted the positive results from earlier efforts and the need to sustain repopulation across these sites.
Calvó stressed FEDA's commitment to safeguarding Andorra's flora and fauna. The energy firm, which relies on water infrastructure, sees the agreement as a way to offset any impacts from its operations on aquatic environments.
The deal also encourages wider promotion of fishing and adherence to its rules, fostering sustainable practices in the country's waterways.
