Andorra Issues Yellow Alert for Heatwave Up to 35°C Through Sunday

Andorra's meteorological service has activated a yellow weather alert for high temperatures starting at noon today, with peaks up to 35°C forecast in Andorra la Vella through Sunday.

The alert covers periods exceeding heat thresholds at least until the weekend, when cooler air is expected to ease conditions gradually. High pressure and a warm air mass over the Iberian Peninsula will sustain the hot spell, despite the meteorological end of summer earlier this week.

Today brings sunny skies with some afternoon clouds from Atlantic high pressure. Maximums will reach 31°C in the capital, 27°C at 1,500 meters and 16°C at Pas de la Casa.

Temperatures will rise Thursday under the same influences, including warm air from northern Africa. Minimums are set at 15°C in Andorra la Vella, 9°C at 1,500 meters and 11°C at Pas de la Casa, while maximums climb to 34°C in the capital, 29°C at mid-altitudes and 18°C at Pas de la Casa.

Friday maintains summer-like heat and sunshine, but the African air mass will carry suspended dust. Minimums rise to 16°C in the capital, 10°C at 1,500 meters and 14°C at Pas de la Casa, with maximums hitting 35°C in Andorra la Vella, 30°C mid-mountain and 18°C at Pas de la Casa.

Over the weekend, dry and warm weather persists. A small pocket of fresh air nears by Sunday evening, introducing high clouds. Minimums are forecast at 17°C in the capital, 11°C at 1,500 meters and 14°C at Pas de la Casa, alongside maximums of 35°C in Andorra la Vella, 31°C at mid-altitudes and 19°C at Pas de la Casa.
