Andorra la Vella has repaired a significant water leak on Carrer del Pobladó, preventing the daily loss of 270,000 litres—equivalent to 5% of the parish's total water consumption.

Councillor for Public Services, Environment, and Natural Heritage Jordi Cabanes noted that this amount matches the daily needs of more than 1,000 people or the volume required to fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool every ten days. The fix was made possible by the digitalization and sectorization of the drinking water network, completed at the end of December 2023.

Cabanes explained that the new system has raised network performance to 76%, allowing for quicker and more accurate leak detection. "The setup improves control and management of the water supply, with better responses to incidents," he said. It also cuts water losses, minimizes disruptions for users, and promotes more sustainable use of this vital resource.

Authorities emphasized that the upgrades will continue to enhance efficiency and reduce waste throughout the parish network.
