Andorra's meteorological service has activated yellow alerts for strong winds across the country and snow in central and northern parishes, effective from 6am tomorrow until 9pm, as storm Pedro nears. Traffic authorities have also imposed yellow-phase restrictions on driving beyond Port d'Envalira on the CG-2, the Sorteny junction on the CG-3, and Pal on the CG-4 due to expected snow on roads.

Precipitation will begin this evening, mainly as light snow in northern areas above 1,800 metres. The snow level will fall to 1,000 metres overnight with colder air, dropping further to 900 metres early tomorrow morning. Snow could initially affect the entire country before focusing northward in the morning. Accumulations are forecast up to 30cm on peaks, 15cm at 2,000 metres, 10-5cm at 1,500 metres, and 3cm near 1,200 metres. By midday, the snow level will rise to 1,200 metres, with clearer skies spreading southward. Strong evening winds from the northwest, with gusts up to 120km/h at altitude, may then push precipitation nationwide again.

Avalanche risk stands at level 3 above 2,200 metres and moderate elsewhere. Winds will strengthen, with gusts most intense in higher areas.

Temperatures will plunge at Pas de la Casa, with lows of -3°C to -10°C and highs below 1°C. Elsewhere, minimums are expected at 1°C in Andorra la Vella and -2°C to -4°C at 1,500 metres, while highs reach 9°C in the capital, similar to today.

From Friday, high pressure will dominate, bringing sunny conditions.
