Key Points

  • Heaviest snow: 11cm at Caborreu, 10cm at Ransol-FEDA, 7cm at several eastern sites.
  • Lighter falls: 6cm at Grau Roig-FEDA and Engolasters, 2cm at lower points.
  • Mediterranean disturbance easing; new front today targets east with up to 10cm above 1,500m.
  • Clearer skies and stability from Saturday through New Year's Eve.

Recent snowfall has deposited 2 to 11 centimetres of new snow across various points in Andorra over the past 24 hours, with the heaviest falls in the east, according to the Andorran Meteorology Service. Caborreu recorded 11 cm, Ransol-FEDA 10 cm, while Fonts d’Arinsal, Bony de les Neres and Coll Pa each saw 7 cm. Grau Roig-FEDA and Engolasters-FEDA measured 6 cm, and Sorteny 4 cm. Lighter accumulations of 2 cm fell at FEDA (Central) and Envalira antennas. Higher stations including Tossa d’Espiolets, Vall del Riu FEDA and Solana registered no new snow, as wind reshaped existing layers.

The Mediterranean disturbance responsible has eased today, Sant Esteve, bringing only weak and intermittent showers. However, a new front is forecast to arrive this afternoon, delivering further precipitation, mainly as snow above 1,500 metres and with heavier accumulations—potentially up to 10 cm at peaks—in eastern areas.

Meteorologists expect clearer skies and improving stability from Saturday onward, potentially lasting until New Year’s Eve. The weather will remain variable amid this atmospheric pattern.
