Installation of solar panels on the roofs of the Congress Centre and the Casa Pairal in Andorra la Vella's Plaça del Poble began about three weeks ago and is progressing on schedule. The panels are expected to become operational within one month.
The project stems from an agreement between Andorra la Vella council and Forces Elèctriques d’Andorra (FEDA). A video posted on FEDA's X account outlines the timeline and highlights the panels' capacity to generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of 140 households. It positions the initiative as another step toward energy self-sufficiency.
Sergi González, the consell major of the parish, appears in the video praising the upgrade. He notes that it will make Plaça del Poble sustainable by avoiding the emission of around 14 tonnes of CO₂ each year.
