Andorra la Vella Secures €6,000 Annual Funding for Women's Association SexCode Femení Through 2029

Andorra la Vella council has formalized a four-year funding agreement with the Andorran Women's Association (ADA), providing €6,000 annually through 2029 to support initiatives like the fourth edition of SexCode Femení. The deal builds on prior informal support, offering long-term stability for programs that foster evidence-based conversations on sexual health, consent, relationships, and equality, in line with World Health Organization guidelines.

Minor consul Olalla Losada described the pact as a key institutional commitment that eases planning amid ongoing taboos. She emphasized creating diverse activities to engage everyone from early teens to adults, noting that even those who think they know it all can discover new insights. "We want Andorra la Vella to be a parish that breaks taboos, where no young person grows up with silences or doubts about their own intimacy," Losada said.

ADA president Elvira Geli called SexCode Femení an essential space for sexual health discussions, pointing out lingering discomfort with female pleasure. "Claiming female pleasure is not frivolity—it's about health, rights, and equality," she said, while advocating safe environments free of judgment to tackle historically silenced topics. Past editions attracted over 250 young people for workshops on pleasure, menstruation, and affective relationships, moving beyond risk-focused education toward comprehensive physical, emotional, and social wellbeing. Geli also highlighted efforts to shift away from narratives centered on heterosexual men.

Councillor for Social Affairs, Youth, and Civic Space Maria Nazzaro stressed the events' value to all of society, not just women. She contrasted them with social media's superficial coverage, where algorithms flood users with content but rarely prompt deeper reflection. "We live in a world where everything is a click away... but we don't stop enough to analyze it, share emotions, or discuss our experiences," she said.
