Andorra's Healthcare Pact Hits 71% Completion with Major Hospital Upgrades

Health Minister Helena Mas reported that Andorra's National Pact for Quality, Efficiency, and Sustainability in the Healthcare System has reached 71% completion across its 162 action lines, with 26% under way and 3% still pending.

Mas chaired follow-up sessions last Thursday and Monday with delegates from CASS, SAAS, health professional colleges, sociosanitary centres, and third-sector groups that endorsed the pact. The round of meetings wrapped up Tuesday with parliamentary groups and political parties.

Key achievements include a €9.15 million upgrade to equipment at Nostra Senyora de Meritxell Hospital. This covered €5.15 million for a new nuclear magnetic resonance scanner, surgical robot, and heliport refurbishment; €2 million for oncology improvements, including a dedicated new floor for advanced care; and €2 million to establish the haemodynamics service, due to open this summer.

Prevention measures advanced with the drafting of the National Oncology Plan 2026-2030, the launch of a second colorectal cancer screening round, and a new adult vaccination schedule fully funded by the government.

Service enhancements featured supported housing and in-home assistance for mental health users, alongside a new breast pathology unit.

Projects set for completion in the second half of 2026 encompass digital health tools, imaging diagnostics, chronic disease management, CASS nomenclature updates, outpatient dietetics services, and a healthcare sustainability plan.

Participants also examined progress on the "Salut en 1 pregunta" initiative, which encourages efficient use of medical resources through targeted efforts at ski slopes, on-call services, emergency departments, pharmacies, and primary care facilities.
