  • 365,000 euro contract for new interventional X-ray room, with Siemens buying back old equipment for 5,000 euros.

The Andorran Health Care Service (SAAS) has awarded Siemens Healthcare two contracts worth a combined 1.715 million euros to upgrade radiology equipment at Nostra Senyora de Meritxell Hospital.

The larger contract, valued at 1.35 million euros excluding indirect taxes, covers a new 1.5 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine for the radiology department. Approved by the SAAS Board of Directors on 29 July 2026, it includes post-warranty maintenance at 140,000 euros per year. This service begins after the warranty expires and runs until 31 December of that year, with options for annual renewals—subject to Board approval—for up to six years from the start date. Delivery is set within 10 weeks.

The second contract, for 365,000 euros, provides a new X-ray room for interventional procedures, also including post-warranty maintenance at 36,500 euros annually. Siemens will buy back the SAAS's existing equipment for 5,000 euros, excluding indirect taxes.

Both awards stemmed from an international open tender process described as urgent.
