Andorran health and urban planning officials visited Monaco this week to examine the Princess Grace Hospital, seeking insights for the Nostra Senyora de Meritxell Hospital expansion project.
The delegation, led by Health Minister Helena Mas and Territory and Urban Planning Minister Raul Ferré, included State Secretary for Health Cristina Pérez, Urban Planning Department Director Cristina Antelo, and Andorra's ambassador to Monaco, Esther Rabasa. Their itinerary covered the Princess Grace Hospital, now in a phased rollout of services, along with Monaco's Cardiothoracic Centre and the Monaco Scientific Centre, focused on biological and health research.
The group conducted working sessions with Monaco counterparts, such as Social Affairs and Health Minister Christophe Robino, Equipment, Environment and Urban Planning Minister Céline Caron-Dagioni, and Foreign Affairs Minister Isabelle Berro-Amadeï. These discussions centred on sharing expertise across hospital project stages, including construction and gradual activation.
Government sources described such interactions between small European states as vital for exchanging knowledge on healthcare planning, public infrastructure and service delivery. They enable the adoption of effective strategies for major national initiatives while maximising limited resources.
The trip continues bilateral momentum established by Prime Minister Xavier Espot's March visit to Monaco, which advanced cooperation in health, infrastructure and public services.
