Albert Espinosa to speak on disability rights at free public talk on Dec 2

The Ministry of Social Affairs, together with the Federation of Associations of People with Disabilities (FAAD), will host a free public talk by writer and screenwriter Albert Espinosa on 2 December at 19:00. The event, titled "If you believe in dreams, they will be created," is organised to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Tickets can be reserved online.

Organisers say the conference aims to highlight the rights and capacities of people with disabilities and to stress the importance of guaranteeing their full access to social, educational, employment and cultural life. The Ministry and FAAD have called on the public to support measures that promote autonomy and full participation, linking the event to commitments under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Albert Espinosa, a Barcelona-based author, screenwriter and director, is best known for books such as The Yellow World, If You Tell Me to Come, I’ll Drop Everything… But Tell Me to Come, and The Secrets They Never Told You. His work has been translated into more than 40 languages. Espinosa survived bone cancer in adolescence, an experience that left him without a leg, a lung and part of his liver; he has drawn on that history to create work characterised by optimism and resilience that has reached a wide international audience.
