Andorra la Vella's College of Dietitians and Nutritionists has unanimously approved the inclusion of its members in the public health system's service portfolio following years of negotiations with the Health Ministry.
The decision, ratified at a recent assembly meeting, marks a key step toward improving nutritional care standards, according to reports from RTVA. Implementation will begin next year through a pilot programme designed to identify specific pathologies and conditions requiring nutritionist intervention.
Under the agreed model, referring physicians will direct patients to nutritionists, who will provide two consultations per condition. In certain cases, such as obesity treatment, these sessions can be extended.
College president Amaia Martioda expressed optimism that a significant number of members would join the new service. She noted, however, that substantial work remains to fully roll out the initiative.
