Andorra la Vella is marking International Women's Day on Sunday, March 8, with a dedicated programme focused on women's health, self-care, and the often-overlooked mental load many women carry.

The Comú d'Andorra la Vella has organised "Temps per a nosaltres" ("Time for Ourselves"), a free event running from noon to 2pm at the Centre de Congressos. It begins with the talk "Cuidar-nos amb consciència" ("Caring for Ourselves Consciously"), led by Marlene Gonçalves. She will share practical tools and insights on managing mental load, setting personal boundaries, prioritising self-care, carving out personal time, and using conscious movement to promote health and wellbeing.

This will be followed at 1pm by a yoga session titled "Les 4 fases del cicle de la dona" ("The Four Phases of the Woman's Cycle"), guided by Suray Fernandez and Paula Frenske. The session offers a space for participants to explore and listen to their bodies across different stages of the menstrual and hormonal cycle.

Places are limited, and advance registration is required.

In addition, the parish council will illuminate several landmark sites in purple to show institutional support for the day. These include Avinguda Meritxell, the lights at the Rotonda Fountain, the bell tower of Sant Esteve Church, Prat de la Creu car park, Avinguda Doctor Mitjavila, and the Rosa Ferrer footbridge.
