Andorra la Vella has launched "One Minute for Your Health," a digital programme to encourage physical activity and healthy lifestyles among residents aged over 65.

Developed by the parish's Social and Sports departments, the initiative advances active ageing efforts with 42 short videos tailored for mobile viewing on social media, YouTube and messaging apps such as WhatsApp. The accessible format aims to reach those leading more sedentary lives or reluctant to join in-person activities, bringing guidance straight into homes across the parish.

Half the videos, lasting around 30 seconds, provide tips on exercise benefits, nutrition and safe practices. The other 21 are one-minute routines featuring simple movements with household items like water bottles, chairs or towels, suitable for indoors or outdoors without specialist gear.

Releases follow a weekly schedule, beginning with a joint launch of an introductory motivational video and initial activation routine. All content will appear on the Serradells sports centre's YouTube channel and Gent Gran ALV's Facebook page.

Themed blocks adapt progressively to the seasons, starting with basic strength work, locomotor health, osteoporosis prevention and fall risk reduction to preserve independence. Subsequent segments address cardiovascular health, pulse monitoring and low-intensity activities like gentle walking or dancing. Summer content includes heat protection, hydration advice and playful water exercises. The programme concludes in autumn and winter with sessions on memory and mood improvement, injury-preventing warm-ups and stretches, joint mobility, balance, and protein- and calcium-rich nutrition.

Social, Youth and Public Space councillor Maria Nazzaro highlighted the need to expand beyond face-to-face options, noting a record 580 enrolments in senior workshops this year. "We have a very active community that fills our facilities, but with 'One Minute for Your Health' we want to go further and reach those people who, for different reasons, don't leave home much or dare to take the step towards sports," she said.
