Ordino parish council plans to finalise tender specifications for a new socio-healthcare centre in 2026, aiming for construction to begin in 2027 if private bids materialise.

Cònsol Major Maria del Mar Coma shared the updated timeline in recent comments to the Andorran News Agency (ANA). The council intends to complete the tender documents next year, with works starting the following year depending on interest from companies and approval of their proposals. A meeting with the Government is set for January to discuss the project and begin drafting the specifications.

The facility would occupy land owned by Casa Rossell in La Cortinada, specifically the Camp de Ceró area, but requires Government authorisation as the site's titleholder. Coma emphasised that the parish lacks the capacity and expertise to operate the centre alone. Without private involvement, advancing the project would prove challenging, she noted, with the council's contribution potentially limited to construction tax exemptions.

The centre would primarily serve northern valleys residents while functioning as a national resource. Coma urged the Social Affairs department to help evaluate Andorra's needs, citing Government models where private entities manage similar facilities. Government participation in the land use and tender process would significantly boost momentum, she added.

These details build on Coma's remarks during a recent parish council session, where she reiterated the essential role of private partners.
