Key Points

  • Targets chronic patients, 30 Andorran athletes, and 20 general public with wearable monitoring.
  • Integrates activity, health, and environmental data from Pyrenean areas like Cerdanya and Andorra.
  • Led by Université de Perpignan and INEFC, with partners including Cerdanya Hospital and Andorran Government.
  • Part of Interreg POCTEFA for sustainable development in Eastern Pyrenees.

Andorran State Secretary for Youth and Sports Alain Cabanes and high-performance sports area head Kevin Poulet attended the launch of the Presapter project on Thursday at Cerdanya Hospital in Puigcerdà. The cross-border European initiative aims to build predictive models that link physical activity, health status, and environmental factors in mountain regions, enabling customized health promotion strategies for Pyrenean communities.

The study targets three groups: individuals with chronic conditions, athletes, and the general population. Andorra will supply around 30 athletes, mostly from the high-performance ARA programme, via the State Secretariat for Youth and Sports. Researchers will examine their activity levels, living environments, and daily habits, alongside data from 20 Andorrans representing the wider public.

Participants will wear continuous monitoring devices to track health and physical activity metrics, integrated with environmental data from their everyday spaces. The project covers Cerdanya, Capcir, Alt Urgell, and Andorra, involving partners from Andorra, Spain, and France.

Université de Perpignan Via Domitia and Institut Nacional d’Educació Física de Catalunya – Pirineus (INEFC) lead the effort, with collaborators including Groupement Européen de Coopération Territoriale de l’Hôpital de Cerdagne, Fundació Kilian Jornet, and the Andorran Government.

Presapter forms part of the POCTEFA programme within Interreg VI-A Spain-France-Andorra (2021-2027), focusing on sustainable development in the Eastern Mountain Functional Area (AFME). This strategic zone spans Pyrenean uplands in Catalonia, Occitania, and Andorra, promoting health cooperation and cross-border ties.
