The Ministry of Social Affairs and Equality has opened two new ground-floor spaces at Carrer Roureda de Sansa 8 in Andorra la Vella, housing services for children, adolescents, youth, vulnerable families, and people with disabilities or dependencies.
These facilities, located in the lower levels of an affordable rental building, replace previous operations at Red Cross premises and the Clara Rabassa building. The relocation seeks to embed support within community environments, making it easier for users to access tailored assistance.
Minister Trini Marín and State Secretary Ester Cervós visited the sites on Friday, meeting staff and observing daily functions. They noted that the new setup provides closer, more responsive care suited to users' everyday needs.
Among the highlights is a mock apartment in the personal autonomy and technical aids service, simulating an adapted home. Users can try out items like wheelchairs, bath chairs, hoists, articulated beds, and other supports to promote independence at home.
The spaces will also accommodate volunteers from the Radars project, who make follow-up calls to elderly people living alone, spotting risks and safeguarding their wellbeing.
Officials presented the initiative as a key upgrade to Andorra's social care network, boosting resources and quality of life for those in vulnerable situations.
