Andorra Immigration Approvals Drop 4.8% to 6,076 in Q4 2025

Andorra's immigration department approved 6,076 initial authorisations during the final quarter of 2025, marking a 4.8% decline from the same period in 2024, according to figures released by the statistics department.

Prorogable authorisations totalled 1,324, down 2.9% year-on-year. Residence and work permits rose slightly to 858, a 0.6% increase, while pure residence permits fell sharply to 377, a 14.5% drop. Border worker permits stood out with 83 approvals, up 62.7% from the previous year. Temporary work authorisations numbered 4,573, also down 4.8%, with foreign company placements at 110 (-23.6%) and those for research, studies, training or sports at 38 (-17.4%). Temporary border worker permits reached 31.

By occupation under the National Classification of Occupations, gains appeared in company and public administration managers (+30%, or 15 more), machinery operators and assemblers (+8.8%, 10 more) and support technicians (+3.8%, 32 more). The largest declines hit restaurant, personal services, protection and retail workers (-5.7%, 134 fewer) and unskilled workers (-4%, 66 fewer).

Despite fewer new approvals, active authorisations reached 60,284 as of 31 December 2025, up 2.4% from a year earlier. Of these, 55,410 were prorogable (+3.2%), with 43,206 for residence and work (+3.2%) and 10,151 for residence alone (+3.4%). Border worker permits totalled 1,943 (+3.7%, or 70 more), temporary work permits 4,574 (-4.7%) and foreign company temporaries 186 (-35.9%).

Departures rose to 272 in the quarter, an 18.3% increase year-on-year. Among active authorisations, support technicians saw the biggest rise (+5.7%, 333 more), followed by skilled manufacturing, construction and mining workers (+3.1%, 144 more). The only decline was among skilled agricultural and fishing workers (-5.4%).
