Key Points

  • CRUE and University of Andorra sign four-year alliance for biennial higher education seminar.
  • Agreement signed in Madrid by rectors Eva Alcón and Juli Minoves.
  • Focuses on academic collaboration, internationalization, and joint initiatives in Iberian and European networks.
  • Builds on prior seminar and positions UdA as Pyrenees dialogue hub.

The Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) and the University of Andorra (UdA) have sealed a four-year strategic alliance to enhance academic, scientific, and institutional ties. The agreement, ratified at CRUE's Madrid headquarters by CRUE President and Jaume I University Rector Eva Alcón and UdA Rector Juli Minoves, establishes a biennial higher education seminar at the UdA.

Andorra's Ambassador to Spain, Eva Descarrega, and CRUE Secretary General Mª Teresa Lozano attended the signing ceremony. The forum will offer a platform for debate, analysis, and experience-sharing on key sector issues, focusing on internationalization to promote university partnerships and joint initiatives across Iberian, European, and Ibero-American networks.

Alcón described the seminar as "a key instrument to strengthen university cooperation and establish a stable dialogue space on sector challenges." She noted that the UdA partnership advances CRUE's international goals through knowledge exchange and best practices.

Minoves highlighted the accord's role in deepening existing links with Spain's academic community. Ahead of the UdA's 40th anniversary, he positioned the university as a cross-border dialogue hub in the Pyrenees, keen to collaborate with rectors' conferences from neighboring countries.

The pact builds on a February seminar at the UdA focused on internationalization, which brought together prominent academic and institutional figures. It now formalizes that event as a recurring collaboration mechanism.

The four-year deal lays groundwork for sustained joint activities between Spain's and Andorra's university systems. Meanwhile, the UdA is in talks for a similar agreement with France Universités to expand its international network.
