Spain Detains Romanian Man Wanted by Andorra for Fraud on A-52 Motorway

Andorran judicial authorities are preparing to initiate extradition proceedings for a 66-year-old Romanian man detained by Spain's Guardia Civil in Verín, Ourense province.

The arrest occurred during a routine traffic check on the A-52 motorway in the Verín municipal area, where many Galician residents who live or have lived in Andorra originate. Guardia Civil traffic specialists stopped a car and checked the driver's documents electronically. The query triggered an alert in Interpol's database, revealing an active detention request from Andorran courts linked to an alleged fraud offence affecting the Principat.

The man, wanted for extradition to Andorra to face charges, was placed at the disposal of local judicial authorities. Due to flight risk concerns, he has been remanded in custody pending formalities from Andorra.
