Three new agents have joined Andorra's Fire Prevention, Extinction and Rescue Corps (CPEIS) after swearing their oath on Friday in a ceremony led by Head of Government Xavier Espot and Justice and Interior Minister Ester Molné.
The newcomers, part of the corps' 37th intake, will bolster operational capacity to meet current and future emergency demands. With these additions and an ongoing recruitment drive, the CPEIS aims to expand its active staff to 124 members in the coming months.
The move forms part of a broader push to renew the force amid expected retirements. Fire Corps Director Jordi Farré recently noted that around 30% of current personnel will retire within the next five years, prompting faster hiring and training efforts.
The new agents now begin six months of training, followed by a one-year probation period before full integration.
During the event, Minister Molné emphasised the commitment these professionals bring to a vital national service. She praised their vocation, sense of responsibility and teamwork as core traits of the role, while underscoring the corps' central place in the emergency system and its role in public safety.
Molné also thanked the commanders and instructors overseeing their training, along with the agents' families for their support. She urged the recruits to carry out their duties with resolve, humility and a dedication to service.
