Andorra Police Seize 4,248g of Drugs in 2025, Down 30.7% from Prior Year

Police in Andorra seized 4,248 grams of narcotics in 2025, marking a 30.7% drop from the 6,126.4 grams confiscated the previous year. The figure falls below the 2016-2025 average of 11,589.4 grams and the five-year average of 6,875.6 grams.

Hashish led the seizures at 1,749.2 grams, accounting for 41.2% of the total, followed by marijuana at 1,637.4 grams (38.5%). Cocaine made up 697.7 grams, with other narcotics totaling 163.7 grams. Most interceptions occurred at borders: 40.2% at the Spanish border, primarily the Runer River customs post where 1,709.7 grams were found, and 20.5% at the French border. The remaining 39.2% took place inside the Principality.

Drug-related arrests fell 37% to 189 from 300 in 2024. Among those detained, 123 were non-residents, 47 non-Andorran residents, and 19 Andorran nationals. Police also conducted 711 cannabis-related checks, up 1.4% from the prior year, mostly on non-residents.

Overall offences recorded by police declined 2.5% to 4,009 from 4,110. Of these, 2,850 have been resolved and 1,159 remain pending. Authorities logged 2,255 crimes and 1,754 criminal misdemeanours. Property offences rose 2.6% to 1,085, including 691 thefts. Assaults dropped 4.1% to 328, with 208 involving intentional physical injuries or mistreatment outside domestic settings. Andorra la Vella accounted for 41.7% of offences, followed by Escaldes-Engordany (9.9%) and the Spanish border (9.8%).

Total arrests decreased 18.6% to 779 from 957. Of these, 729 were referred to judicial authorities, 46 did not require it, and four involved extradition. Spaniards comprised 29.4% of detainees, Andorrans 22.5%, and Americans 18.6%. Non-Andorran residents made up 39.3%, non-residents or cross-border workers 38.6%, and Andorrans 22.1%. Men accounted for 85.6%, with 62.6% aged 22 to 39.

Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs topped the reasons for arrest at 357 cases, followed by narcotics offences (189) and domestic physical or psychological assaults (59). Smuggling arrests surged 92.9%.

The police force ended 2025 with 331 personnel, yielding a ratio of 298.7 officers per 100,000 inhabitants. Agents numbered 266, with 65 in administrative or technical roles. Men held 78.2% of positions overall.
