Police in Andorra detained a 19-year-old man over the weekend as the suspected perpetrator of an offence against physical and moral integrity after he assaulted another youth, inflicting a bleeding wound. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday outside a nightclub in Andorra la Vella.
In offences against public health, officers arrested six people last week for possessing small amounts of narcotics. On Tuesday morning in Andorra la Vella, a 35-year-old man was found with 2.1 grams of cocaine. On Friday morning outside a nightclub in the capital, two men aged 27 and 28 were detained carrying 0.7 and 0.4 grams of cocaine, respectively. That same afternoon at the Franco-Andorran border, a 46-year-old male tourist and a 30-year-old female tourist were stopped entering the country with 1.10 and 0.90 grams of cocaine, plus 3.5 grams of hashish. Also on Friday afternoon at the Riu Runer border crossing, a 33-year-old female tourist was intercepted with two ecstasy pills.
Regarding traffic safety violations, five individuals were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. A 46-year-old man was stopped early Tuesday in Escaldes-Engordany while riding a scooter in the wrong direction; his blood alcohol level measured 2.26 g/l. Early Thursday in Andorra la Vella, a 39-year-old man was detained after running a red light, testing positive at 2.31 g/l. On Friday morning, a 28-year-old woman registered 1.60 g/l after driving at high speed with erratic maneuvers. Finally, early Sunday, two men aged 26 and 37 were caught in routine road checks with levels of 1.06 and 1.62 g/l, respectively.
