Andorra Police Probe 7 Burglaries and Attempt Across Parishes

Police in Andorra are investigating a series of seven completed burglaries and one possible attempt at homes across the country, detected since early May. The incidents have occurred in Andorra la Vella, Escaldes-Engordany, La Massana and Encamp, with the most recent taking place on Sunday afternoon.

Specialists from the Heritage Crimes unit within the Judicial Police and Criminal Investigation Area are gathering and examining evidence collected since the first case. Their goal is to identify and locate those responsible. Authorities describe the probe as a priority, with progress noted despite its challenges.

In three homes, thieves took safes containing jewellery, watches, documents and varying amounts of cash. In the others, residences were ransacked, with cash and other valuables stolen. Not all properties showed signs of forced entry at the doors.

Investigators suspect non-residents linked to organised groups, possibly more than one, specialising in such crimes. These suspects operate quickly, using varied methods to enter homes selected apparently at random. Police note that waves of burglaries like this occur cyclically, often tied to organised activity over specific periods.

In response, authorities urge residents to secure homes with double locks, keep alarms and surveillance cameras active, and report suspicious activity—such as unusual noises or unfamiliar people in buildings—immediately by calling 872 000.

Separately, two men were arrested earlier this month after being caught in the act during a burglary at a property in Santa Coloma. Both entered La Comella prison on remand, and police are checking for links to the recent cases.
