Drunk Man Caught with Loaded Revolver and Knife in Andorra la Vella

Police in Andorra la Vella arrested a 60-year-old non-resident man early Monday on two counts of offences against public safety for carrying prohibited weapons.

The incident took place around 3 a.m. on Avinguda Mitjavila, near Carrer Prat de la Creu. Patrol officers noticed the man in a severe state of intoxication, struggling to walk, and decided to escort him to his hotel. During the process, they found a loaded revolver—with five rounds in the cylinder—in one of his trouser pockets, along with a sheathed knife featuring a 10-centimetre blade on his belt.

Officers seized both items immediately and detained the man as the presumed author of the offences. Firearms and blades longer than permitted lengths are prohibited in Andorra. He remained in custody overnight and appeared before a judge Monday afternoon through a fast-track procedure, after which he was released with an expulsion order.

The man had recently left a casino on Carrer Prat de la Creu after prolonged gambling. He did not brandish either weapon there or in any other location, and no earlier incidents were reported.

His nationality has not been disclosed. Although initial checks raised questions about potential ties to a disbanded organized crime network—due to his pattern of transporting weapons across borders—police have provided no additional details.
