Andorran police arrested a 25-year-old non-resident man early Saturday after he crashed a Spanish-registered van into the Dama de Gel roundabout in Andorra la Vella, injuring himself and an 18-year-old passenger.
The Traffic Accidents Investigation Unit found that speeding and an illegal overtake in the Pont Pla tunnel caused the collision. Officers charged the driver with offences against public safety due to reckless driving, as well as crimes against physical and moral integrity.
In separate incidents over the weekend, police detained two men for driving under the influence. A 50-year-old man tested positive at 1.10 early Saturday in Andorra la Vella, while a 53-year-old registered 1.70 early Sunday in Arinsal.
Last week, authorities also arrested a 34-year-old man in possession of 0.74 grams of cocaine. Additionally, a 47-year-old non-resident faced charges of offences against public administration and the justice system for violating two administrative expulsion orders and one judicial order.
