25-year-old arrested in Andorra la Vella after woman flees alleged assault inside car

Police in Andorra la Vella, the capital of the Pyrenean microstate of Andorra, arrested a 25-year-old man early Sunday after his former partner escaped from his car and reported an alleged assault.

According to police, the woman left the vehicle while it was stopped at a traffic light and ran to the drivers of a car ahead, who accompanied her to the local police station to file a complaint. The man reportedly reversed direction and drove off, but was located and detained shortly afterwards following a patrol search.

The suspect has been taken into custody on suspicion of an offence described by authorities as "against physical and moral integrity," a legal classification used in Andorra for alleged physical or psychological assaults. Police statements say the victim lodged the complaint in the early hours of Sunday.

Authorities noted the arrest as part of broader police activity over the weekend. Other detentions reported included a cigarette contraband arrest in Pas de la Casa and several drunk-driving arrests, according to police releases covering the same period.
