Police accident investigators suspect alcohol impairment after the driver tested positive on a breathalyser at a rate of 1. She disputed the result and, while hospitalised for a cervical whiplash injury, requested a blood test that showed an even higher level. Officers then arrested her on charges of a crime against public safety.
The vehicle veered off course and struck a low wall surrounding the roundabout, leaving the car heavily damaged. Traffic agents from Andorra la Vella directed vehicles to minimise disruptions in the busy area. Firefighters, including an ambulance crew, attended to the occupants, while a cleanup truck and police traffic specialists also responded to the scene.
This marked the second incident on Avinguda Santa Coloma within hours. The earlier crash happened shortly before 4pm on Friday near number 117, closer to the Spanish border, when an Andorran-registered car pulled out from a petrol station without yielding and collided with an oncoming Andorran-registered motorcycle carrying a father and his daughter.
