Andorra's Ministry of Social Affairs has incorporated Mexico into the list of countries with which the Principat has agreements for international adoptions, increasing the options to seven for local families.
Mexico joins Côte d'Ivoire, the Dominican Republic, Slovakia, Chile, the Philippines, and Colombia. The addition follows Mexico's central authority agreeing to accept adoption dossiers from Andorran families through Andorra's Central Authority, in accordance with the Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoption, ratified by both countries.
Andorran families can now submit their international adoption applications to Mexico, with guidance from the ministry's Central Authority-Specialised Adoption Service. This support ensures security, rigorous checks, and continuous monitoring throughout the process.
The agreement was sealed during a trip to Mexico City by an Andorran delegation headed by Ambassador to Mexico Joan Forné, along with Ruth Mallol and Bruno Martínez from the ministry's adoption service.
Government representatives view the development as a key advance in broadening opportunities for Principat residents wishing to offer a home to children in need, while strengthening the executive's dedication to safeguarding children's rights.
