Police in Andorra arrested five drivers this week on suspicion of public safety offences for driving under the influence of alcohol, recording blood alcohol levels from 0.95 to 2.13 g/l. The detainees comprised four men and one woman aged 23 to 55.

The highest reading of 2.13 g/l—almost three times the legal limit—involved a woman who collided with a pedestrian protection barrier on the CG-5 in Arinsal during the early hours of Wednesday, following a Tuesday night incident. She faced a Batllia restriction barring her from driving at certain times and was on the road outside permitted hours. Officers charged her with a public safety offence and an additional violation against the administration of justice.

A male driver tested at 1.94 g/l after a property-damage crash on the CG-2 near Soldeu. Another, with 1.86 g/l, carried 0.9 grams of cocaine and 2.3 grams of hashish; his refusal of a drug test prompted a second public safety charge. The other two alcohol-related arrests occurred during routine traffic checks.

Officers also detained a 39-year-old man with 0.5 grams of cocaine after he refused alcohol and drug tests. He drove with an expired licence and vehicle inspection, leading to charges for drug possession and a public safety offence.

Two further drivers faced arrest for operating vehicles on suspended licences. A 30-year-old was spotted by an off-duty officer who recognised him from a Batllia ban, resulting in an administration of justice charge. A 52-year-old tested positive for drugs following a property-damage collision with another car at the Prada Casadet roundabout and was charged with offences against public safety and public function.

At border crossings, police seized drugs from two tourists: a 23-year-old at the French-Andorran border with 0.3 grams of cocaine and 0.55 grams of hashish, and a 28-year-old at the Riu Runer frontier with 0.65 grams of cocaine. Both faced public health violation charges.

In a separate incident Thursday night in Andorra la Vella, a 42-year-old tourist was arrested for assaulting his brother at the brother's home, where he had been staying, on charges of offences against physical and moral integrity.
