Two Pas de la Casa residents, aged 23 and 24, were released early Sunday after 36 to 48 hours in custody. Arrests followed an alleged sexual assault on a 17-year-old non-resident female tourist during New Year's Eve festivities. The first detention took place around 6pm on 1 January in Pas de la Casa; the second occurred shortly after 8am on Friday in Canillo. Both appeared before the duty magistrate Saturday afternoon.

Hospital staff at Nostra Senyora de Meritxell activated the Codi Lila protocol after examining the heavily intoxicated woman. She had drunk heavily at a Pas de la Casa nightclub, met the men there, gone with them to a private apartment and woken without trousers. Alarmed, she contacted friends before seeking medical help, unable to recall details clearly and fearing a non-consensual group encounter.

All parties showed high intoxication levels. A video recorded by the first detainee on his phone proved decisive, showing his sexual encounter with no visible opposition or violence. The magistrate deemed it consensual, despite the alcohol, and dismissed any group violation claim. The second man was present but did not participate.

Police treated the case with care, collecting statements from the tourist, suspects, witnesses and others. The second man faces no charges. The first has been processed for a separate sexual liberty offence, potentially linked to unauthorised sharing of the video or other footage. No further images have been confirmed, and the woman has not complained about any recordings. Intoxication alone was not deemed sufficient to invalidate consent.
