Andorra Union Welcomes AI Education Capsules for Students

Sergi Esteves, general secretary of the Public Teaching Union, has welcomed the Education Ministry's new educational capsules on artificial intelligence, describing them as a positive step forward.

The programme targets third-year ESO students across Andorra's three educational systems, aiming to raise awareness of AI's risks and promote its responsible, ethical use. Esteves noted that such training benefits students not only in the classroom but also in their personal lives. He added that the education system is making good progress in equipping both pupils and teachers with the skills to handle AI effectively.

"Teachers do not see artificial intelligence as an enemy, but as a tool with educational potential," Esteves said. He stressed that the technology must be used appropriately, and in schools, it should always align with teachers' judgement, as they are best placed to decide how to integrate it into lessons.

Esteves highlighted the growing impact of AI and new technologies in education. Last year, a survey of teachers across Andorran schools revealed significant concern not about the technology itself, but about its potential misuse inside and outside the classroom.
