A 39-year-old Andorran resident sustained moderate injuries shortly before 2pm on Thursday when he lost control of his motorbike on the uphill stretch of the CS-220 road to Cortals d'Encamp, struck the wing mirror of an oncoming foreign-registered car, and fell several metres down a ravine into a nearby stream.
The crash took place at kilometre 2.7, just before the junction with Camí de les Pardines. Traffic police accident investigators are still determining the cause, but the rider veered across the road and clipped the car's mirror. The impact sent both the motorbike and rider tumbling down the embankment, with the man falling further than the vehicle.
The car's driver, heading downhill, alerted emergency services, initially indicating a potentially serious incident. Firefighters reached the site, descended to the rider's location, and found him conscious and moving with relative ease. They provided on-scene treatment before SUM paramedics transported him to hospital for further care and checks.
Responders included a fire crew, a SUM ambulance, police patrol units, traffic accident specialists, and Encamp traffic officers who secured the area.
Police confirmed the man was riding despite a suspended licence. No further details on his condition or the investigation have been released.
