Key Points
- 66-signature opposition letter; 17 from non-property owners, low prior attendance.
- POUP curbs uncontrolled growth, focuses on sustainability and density limits.
- Open to alternatives for key modifications after dialogue.
- Cable car details, including flight path, expected in two weeks.
Canillo's senior councillor, Jordi Alcobé, has reiterated the parish council's openness to residents' concerns about the urban development plan (POUP), noting ongoing individual meetings with signatories of an opposition letter received around two weeks ago.
The letter contained 66 signatures from locals opposing the POUP. Alcobé pointed out that 17 came from individuals without registered property in the parish cadastre, while several others were from family members sharing a single plot. He added that only six signatories had attended a prior council session outlining the plan, suggesting widespread lack of familiarity with its contents. So far, about ten have held discussions with officials, during which the council has explained key elements and addressed questions.
Alcobé described the POUP as a dynamic instrument to curb uncontrolled expansion amid heavy construction activity. It emphasises sustainability, landscape compatibility, and restrictions on urban density. He stressed that the council would consider equally effective alternatives—especially for modification 5, the most substantial after modification 4—if they resolve specific issues, following further dialogue.
On residents' fears over a proposed cable car and its flight path, Alcobé said the project is still being defined. Precise details on the affected zone and overflight altitude are due within two weeks, enabling evaluation of any planning effects.
The councillor commended the constructive engagement of those involved and affirmed the council's readiness to adapt the plan based on input.
