Teachers' Slow March on N-260 Disrupts Andorra-Spain Traffic

Teachers from La Seu d'Urgell will stage a slow march on the N-260 road Wednesday morning, likely causing delays for traffic heading into or out of Andorra from Spain. Catalan traffic services and Andorra's Mobilitat department warn of congestion between the La Seu entrance and Castellciutat roundabout from 8am until roughly 10:45am, advising drivers to use alternative routes.

The action, led by USTEC—Catalonia's largest teachers' union—continues a week of protests across the four provinces following a recent strike. Lleida province takes centre stage Wednesday, with a major unified stoppage planned for Barcelona on Friday. Educators seek better pay, reduced student-teacher ratios and more school resources. USTEC has rejected a deal struck last week between the Catalan government and unions UGT and CCOO as inadequate.

The schedule begins at 8am with a gathering near Tallers Valira, followed by the slow march to Castellciutat roundabout. Protesters will then head to central La Seu d'Urgell for noisy demonstrations outside Pau Claris primary school and Joan Brudieu secondary institute. A midday rally starts at 12:45pm from Plaça del Codina, leading to lunch at 2:30pm in Plaça de les Monges. An afternoon assembly from 4pm will prepare for Friday's Barcelona event.

Authorities do not expect a full road closure, but dense traffic and potential short restrictions remain possible, as seen in similar protests in Barcelona on Monday and Tarragona on Tuesday. Andorra's Mobilitat has shared alerts on social media, stressing the need for advance planning. Catalan traffic services echo the call for alternatives, noting the march could complicate access during peak morning hours.
