A van driver was arrested in Andorra la Vella shortly after midnight after blocking access to a communal car park, prompting other motorists to call the police.
The incident unfolded at the Valira communal parking lot on Carrer de la Valira, in the heart of the country's main commercial district between Illa Carlemany and the Dama de Gel roundabout. The driver, perched atop his vehicle and apparently intoxicated, performed erratic maneuvers that prevented others from entering or exiting the barrier-controlled outdoor lot. Frustrated users urged him to stop, but he reportedly became more defiant.
Around 20 minutes past midnight, affected drivers alerted authorities. When a police patrol arrived to restore order, officers conducted a breathalyser test on the man. He tested positive and was detained on charges of a crime against public safety, as he had been behind the wheel of the van.
Police reported two such arrests for criminally high alcohol levels that morning. Both suspects were brought before a judge and released after swift convictions via the fast-track process.
